How to Measure a Room for a Sofa

The sofa calculator needs two numbers: your room's length and width. Here's exactly how to get them.

What you need

Step 1 — Find the wall you're placing the sofa against

Measure that wall from corner to corner, floor level, along the baseboard. This is your room length if it's the longer of the two walls, or your room width if it's the shorter one — the calculator lets you place the sofa along either.

Step 2 — Measure the perpendicular wall

Turn 90° and measure the adjoining wall the same way, corner to corner along the baseboard.

Tips for accuracy

Example

A living room measuring 4.0 m along one wall and 3.2 m along the other would be entered as room length 400 cm and room width 320 cm (or you can enter in feet and inches — the calculator converts automatically).
