cm, Inches, and Feet — Converting Furniture Sizes
Canadian retailers mix metric and imperial constantly — a Canadian-market listing might give centimetres, while a US-market version of the same product gives inches. Here's how the conversion works and how to avoid mistakes.

SpaceCheck stores every measurement internally as whole millimetres, converted with these exact constants — never with a rounded approximation like "1 inch ≈ 2.5 cm". That precision is what keeps a verdict identical whether you enter a room in centimetres or in feet and inches.
Common mix-ups
- Feet-and-inches over-carry: "5 feet 12 inches" isn't valid — that's 6 feet exactly. Our feet-and-inches fields reject an inches value of 12 or more so this can't slip through unnoticed.
- Mixing a metric room with an imperial sofa spec (or vice versa): perfectly fine — enter each in whatever unit you have, and switch the display unit any time. The stored millimetre value doesn't change when you switch.
- Rounded inches on a spec sheet: some listings round to the nearest half-inch. That's a small enough difference (under 13 mm) that it won't flip a verdict that isn't already sitting exactly on a threshold.
